Economic pinch felt in Apple retail with 10% staff reduction
Apple’s Q2 ‘09 results are in, and despite a three percent dip in Mac shipments, the news is definitely good. Still, not everyone is flying high, as slower sales at the company’s retail stores resulted in a roughly 10 percent cut in staffing for the quarter.
Operating income dropped about 7.8 percent for fiscal Q2 year-over-year, about 10.6 percent for the first half of the year over the same period last year. The decline is “attributable primarily to lower average revenue per store,” according to the company’s latest 10-Q filing with the SEC.
